For Sellers:eBay Live auctions is one method to get items in front of a large, world wide audience. These audiences commonly have the following heuristics:
- Buyers are familiar with eBay and Paypal, and how the system works.
- Commonly, online buyers do not visit the live auction (out of state, country, etc)
- They do not look through Auction magazines for auctions
- eBay brings 200 million people to the auction by placing the items in a regular listing, having them to log into eBay to attend the auction
With all of the great things that eBay brings to the table, there is a cost. eBay Live Auctions commonly run up to five times higher than other venues, a cost that is worth it if you have 600 or more high quality lots that has a potential of over $100,000.

eBay Live Auctions allows eBay users to be part of a live bidding platform in which they are used to. The difference is that instead of a button to leave an absentee bid, they have the opportunity of leaving an absentee bid much like a live auction, or to participate in the auction and hit a bid button, where they increase their bid online LIVE incrementally.
Registration for this service is done directly through the eBay system, and anyone who is already an eBay member simply needs to sign in and complete a brief secondary auction registration for our particular live event.
What are the costs?
To help defray the cost of the service, the buyer’s premium for lots purchased on eBay is 20%. Catalogs for items to be offered via eBay Live become available 10 days prior to our auction.
