Consignment Auction Services
In 2003, a new concept of consignment services started, and has now become part of the American consignment landscape. However, the concept did not come to work well for these companies, and many who bought into the concept are now fledling along.
The concept did not work because sellers increasingly find online auction companies fees to be too expensive and are becoming successful at finding buyers elsewhere, in some cases the cost of doing do was over a whopping 57% in fees total. However, the auctioneer who has an online presence allows consumers to choose online venues or live venues, and now more and more companies are offering hybrid live auction services with online bidding.
While the technology is rather new, new technologies replace and enhance current technologies to make it a top notch service that gives our customers the highest market value available.
How does Consignment Auction Services work?
There are two options for our consignment auction services. Live auction services or online auction services. The hybrid services are reserved where we can get a catalog prepared and placed online for buyers to view.
Blue Hound Auctions, LLC also offers a unique service no other "drop off point" can offer. As a licensed auction company, if we feel your item is best-suited for a live auction, we can accept it on consignment for auction. What's more, some of our auctions are broadcast live online, which allows online buyers to participate in real time in our auctions. This method of sale is the best of both worlds - a live auction and full exposure online. We recommend before you consider any other online consignment service you contact us for a free, confidential consultation regarding your items and the most effective ways to sell them to net you the most money.
Live Consignment Auction
The Live Consignment auctions are commonly a monthly event, in which many items that are not worth more than a dollar are grouped into "Box Lots" in order to sell your items effectively. To assist you in determining if an auction is right for you, we have included an auction FAQ below on things we do not accept for auction.
Online Consignment Auction
Our online consignment services are a multi-venued approach to consigning your items.
- First, we offer our website auction software to sell your items. This allows us to offer you the ability to track your items from your own home.
- Second, if the quality of the items and the value of the items justify a larger online auction site, we will begin cataloging items and placing them on Proxibid, the premier online auction venue which allows us to present your items world wide.
- Lastly, for those who have lots of quality merchandise that number in the thousands in their collection, we offer two options for online. Option A - Proxibid online and live bidding or Option B - Timed Auctions on eBay Live Auctions or Timed Auctions Via Proxibid.
For our regular online listings, we do not use online research methods to

Consignment Auction FAQ's:
-
Do you take consignments? - Yes! Nearly 100% of the items we offer at auction are consigned to us by collectors, dealers, beneficiaries and/or executors of an estate, etc. We are always seeking quality consignments for upcoming auctions.
-
What is your fee for consignments? - As a policy, we do not publicly advertise our consignment rates. We encourage anyone considering selling items at auction to contact us before making a decision to contract with another provider. We will go over the cost involved to sell items at auction as well as the services we offer and benefits of doing business with us.
-
I only have one item to consign. Do you have a minimum? - There is no minimum to consign with us. We frequently have people consign with us who have acquired a single item through inheritance or maybe even at a yard sale who would like to sell the item at auction. We are more than happy to work with consignors to meet their individual needs and goals.
-
When do I need to get my item to you for your next auction? - In order to adequately market and advertise your consignments, we recommend that you get your items to us as early as possible. Generally, our deadline is four weeks prior to the auction date. Depending on printing and advertising deadlines, we can occasionally make exceptions but this is not always the case. Additionally, space in our auctions tends to fill up fast. Since we limit the number of lots in our auctions, we again recommend that we receive your items as early as possible to ensure inclusion and adequate marketing.
-
I am not in Fuquay Varina. How do I get my items to you?- There are many options available if you are not in the Central North Carolina area or cannot bring your items to us. For smaller consignments, shipping by U.S. Mail, UPS, DHL or FedEx tends to be the most cost effective. For larger collections or consignments, we offer pick-up services for a reasonable fee nearly anywhere in North Carolina. Since 2004, we've worked for consignors from two states including New York and North Carolina..
-
Do you accept reserves on items? - A reserve is a confidential minimum the consignor is willing to take on an item. While there are advantages to having a reserve on an item, there are also advantages to selling an item absolute (without reserve). We do accept reserves on select items that meet certain criteria, but it is always best to contact us to discuss the item and reserve amount specifically. Typically, less than 10% of our items offered at auction have reserves. Out of the 10% that has a reserve, only 1% of those items sell with a reserve.
-
I have been collecting for years and have a large collection I'd like to sell. Can you help? - Absolutely! While we typically have many consignors per auction, we specialize in the dispersal of large collections at auction. Having experience with this, we can evaluate your collection and offer recommendations to maximize the results from selling your collection at auction. We are also more than willing to schedule an auction outside of regularly scheduled events to meet a consignor's needs.
